Jr Volunteers: Help or Distraction

Many of you have had a Sunday where you have a Jr. Volunteer enter your classroom to help. Some of you might feel releaved and some of you might find your heart starting to race a little more because you worry if they will help you or cause more work.

Well, please know that they are there for a purpose - to help you with anything but more inportant - they are a future leader in training. We have a Jr. Volunteer program that was developed a few years ago in Livermore. This program has been set into place so our young leaders can serve and grow into future church, school and community leaders. They have an application process just like adult leaders and they are required to attend bi-monthly meetings.

Please keep in mind that many of them are Jr. High aged so very energetic and playful. I know sometimes this can be hard to deal with when you have a room full of 2 year olds. Please feel free to keep them busy - direct them with what they can do next or team them up with a new or sad child. They can set-up and clean up whatever you need. They are NOT there to run the class or teach in anyway. If they are not a help to you please let me know and I will talk with them.

We love our Jr. Volunteers and what to encourage them, but this program is a previlage and an earned responsibility not a right. We can ask a very disruptive Jr. to take a break if needed. I hold meetings every other month so PLEASE feel free to send me concerns that need to be addressed to the group.

Thank you for being apart of this leadership program to these Jr. Volunteers - they are watching and learning from you every week.
