Faithful Brentwood Volunteer,
This week I have been thinking about the word "Preparation". In our busy days as Moms, Dads, employees, coaches, etc we prepare for many things and some things we just fly by the seat of our pants. I know, for myself, that when I take the time to REALLY prepare myself for something either it be dinner for that night, a meeting, have clothes laid out for the kids or whatever things just go so much smoother then when I run around last minute. How about you? How do you feel about your day when you are prepared?
Ok, so I also know that no matter how prepared I can be that I also need to be flexible for things to change last minute. Being flexible is just as important as being prepared. I am so thankful that I know this - even though I really like my ducks in a row I know that sometimes things take a turn in a direction unexpected.
So are you wondering "Were is she going with this"? Well, a question for you all...How prepared are you for Sunday mornings? I really want to challenge you for prep before leaving the house. I know many of us are dealing with our own kids before heading into church to volunteer but trust me and try it. God will show up and bless you in your prep time - it will make a world of difference.
Prep ideas:
Pray - this is the most important! Please take the time to pray over your class and teaching time.
Read - Read the lesson. All information for this weeks lesson is available in this email.
Ask- if you have any questions - just ask me! If you read ahead and can ask ahead this will help the morning run so much smoother for all.
Remember- remember that you are Jesus with skin to these kids. Every child needs love from us, they need role models, they need fun, they need to be silly, they need structure and I can go on and on with what they need. Our children are going through so many things just like we are as adults - we need not to simplify their problems and needs. The hour they spend with us is planting a seed in them for the rest of their lives.
Flexible - Be flexible and patient. We really try not to overload the rooms or have missing supplies. Some Sundays you may not get to the full lesson - whatever curve balls come at you I have all of the faith in you that you can still hit that ball out of the park if your heart is prepared!
Have a super week and see ya Sunday!
